EAST TEXAS FISHING REPORTS

Normal pool level for Rayburn is 164.40

RAYBURN WATER LEVEL

The water temp is running in the high 50's and low 60's and winter time bass  fishing has arrived.  The current lake level is approximately 1  ft below  pool and the water is dingy north and clearning midlake and south.   The typical pattern for winter fishing on Rayburn is to fish the hydrilla .   There may be  bass holding on the back side in 3-4 feet, on top of the grass, or on the deep edges, 8-12 feet.   The common search bait used is a rattle trap type lure in 1/2 to 3/4 size and in Red or crawfish color and spinner baits in white, white/chartruse..  As the water temp cools more there will also be bass on the deeper brush piles and jigging spoons, C -rigs and  football jigs will be good lures.   It will usually take 25 to 30 lbs to win tournaments during the winter and 15 to16 lbs to get a check.   Large bass in most tournaments are typically 8 to 10 lbs.

TOLEDO BEND WATER LEVEL

Normal pool level for Toledo is 172.00

Toledo Bemd is currently about pool level with surface temp  running high 50's  low 60s.  Bass are being caught on spinner baits around grass and flooded brush and C and Texas rigs later in the day.    Some good fish are also being caught on football jigs and c rigs in 18 to 25 ft. There is also a bite in the deeper grass on the south part of the lake.  Most tournaments are being won with weighs over 20lbs and big bass are in the 7 to 9 lb range.   Currently all boat ramps are usuable.  Alpine ramp has been recently repaired and is in good condition.                                                                                                        Useable Toledo Boat Ramps

LAKE NACOGDOCHES

Lake Nacogdoches is normal pool.and the water is dingy north and clearning south.  Water temp is in the high 50's and low 60's.    Spinner baits are producing bass around  grass .   Some bass are being caught on Texas and  C rigs with Red Bug, Watermelon Gold, & "Christmas Tree" being  good color selections along the creek channels..    Locating and fishing  hydrilla is the best way to increase your catch on this lake.   These areas and deep lake structure  typically hold  the "quality" Lake Nacogdoches bass.   Fishing the structure in 30-35 foot, on jigging spoons,  drop shots and CRigs is a great way to catch bass on the lake.  Summer  fishing on Lake Nacogdoches is alot of fun and lots of quality  bass can be caught..   Nacogdoches is a great  fishing lake duing the winter with little recreational traffic.
